Heartburn Remedies – Heartburn is one of the most common health problems in modern times. Practical heartburn remedies from research are: chewing gum and vinegar.

Chewing gum is one of the most powerful heartburn remedies at home. It will be done anywhere, anytime.
Continued chewing gum acts as the nociceptive suppressant.

Nociceptors are nerve that tells the brain when all kinds of pain or noxious stimuli, including the heart burn experience. Chewing gum suppresses the nerves and reduces the amount of pain.

Chewing gum causes the release of saliva and increases the pH of saliva that is another reason of chewing gum is the best heartburn remedies.

Vinegar is effective heartburn remedies. In fact, drinking vinegar would place an acid quelling many heartburn issues. The acetic acid in vinegar relieves heartburn and acetic acid is the main ingredients in vinegar. Vinegar is one of the best heartburn remedies.
If vinegar is for you as heartburn remedies, it will work at the first time. If it does not help you must not to try it. Stop and simply try a different medication for heartburn remedies.

Other heartburn remedies are:

Antacids: effective for occasional use.

Apple cider vinegar: offers no special benefit over plain vinegar.
Ben wedge pillows are specially designed to reduce acid reflux when sleeping.
Celery may reduce heartburn simply because it needs a lot to chew, chewing produces saliva, and saliva is the best heartburn remedies.

Ionized alkaline water acts in a similar way as antacids neutralize stomach acid.
Milk is a buffer solution and can help neutralize stomach acid, but in neutralizing stomach acid inhibits the digestion.
Mustard works for heartburn because it contains vinegar.
Fennel seed oil a popular heartburn remedies.

Pineapple contains high concentrations of the enzyme known as bromelain. Bromelain is a digestive enzyme protein that reduces inflammation, which in turn, improve digestion and reduce acid reflux.

Hiatal Hernia Symptoms

A hiatal hernia is an anatomical defect in which a prominent part of the stomach protrudes through the diaphragm into the chest. Hiatal hernias are present about 15% of the population. Hiatal hernias are associated with symptoms with only a minority of those infected.

Hiatal hernia caused by a fracture than a normal esophagus, through which the esophagus passes from the stomach into the chest, causing a large opening in the smoothing of the stomach into the chest. Other possible factors include:
Permanent shortening of the esophagus may be caused by inflammation and scarring of reflux or regurgitation of stomach acid.

Abnormally lost membrane of the esophagus to the diaphragm that makes the esophagus and stomach slip.

The vast majority of hiatal hernia is a graphical representation, and most of them are not associated with symptoms. The larger the fraction, the more likely to cause the symptoms. When sliding hiatal hernias produce symptoms, they are almost always that gastroesophageal reflux disease or its complications.

This happens because the formation of the hernia often interferes with the barrier (esophageal sphincter) that prevents reflux into the esophagus. Therefore, clearly hiatal hernias contribute to gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Most people do not realize that they have a hiatal hernia.

The hiatal hernia symptoms include the following:

• heartburn, regurgitation
• Difficulty in swallowing
• chest pain radiating from below the chest
• bloating after eating
• Shortness of breath

Acid Reflux

Acid reflux disease will damage the esophagus if left untreated.

It causes erosive esophagitis as stomach acid gradually wears down to the lining of the esophagus.

Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste and swallowing.

Indigestion, chest pain and hoarseness and other symptoms associated with acid reflux.

Lower esophageal sphincter is a mechanism between the esophagus and stomach.

The food is allowed to pass freely in the stomach when functioning properly, lower esophageal sphincter muscle blocks and prevents stomach acids and stomach contents into the esophagus (reflux).

When the lower esophageal sphincter does not work properly, reflux occurs.

Untreated reflux will bring about erosive esophagitis.

Erosive esophagitis can be severe and may lead to bleed, scarring, difficulty swallowing, and other adverse conditions.

image from ladyspeak.com

The good thing is that people diagnosed with erosive esophagitis repair the damage.

The doctor is the only person in a position to accurately diagnose the severity of erosive esophagitis.

Even people with mild heartburn can cause damage to her esophagus.

Heartburn is not the only factor.

Certain foods can cause heartburn.

For example, consumption of spicy foods, fried, greasy or tomato-based could do for some people.

Lemon juice cause heartburn symptoms also.

Onion, garlic, mint flavoring, chocolate and spices are the list of heartburn.

In addition, caffeine-containing beverages such as coffee, tea or soft drinks and alcohol.

Obesity, smoking, stress, overeating can also cause heartburn.

These are all habits.

However, that can be changed without medication to avoid heartburn or acid reflux disease.

If you change your habits to avoid the trigger foods and try making some changes in lifestyle and will continue to reflux symptoms occur two or more days a week, then you are definitely have acid reflux disease.

Acid reflux may be treated in two ways. One is the right medication, and the other is just change of lifestyle and eating habits. No matter what you used for acid reflux treatment, it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor.

The reason is the fact that drugs for medicines used to treat other diseases can repress medicine use for acid reflux treatments.

Acid reflux treatment can be divided into three broad categories:

- Changes in lifestyle

- Medication

- Surgery or laparoscopic surgery

Changes in lifestyle

This treatment advises the patient to change their lifestyle, from eating habits to sleeping habits and even body posture while exercising. When we talk about eating habits, patients cannot take spicy food, coffee, alcohol anymore.

It is also suggested to reduce the consumption of cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower. It is also advised to have a smaller meal, but more than 3 times.

Avoid a meal just before bedtime. This will reduce the expansion of the stomach during digestion. Chewing gum after a meal will increase the production of saliva, which in turn neutralize the acid in the esophagus, and in return, to give relief to produce acid increases.

image from ehow.com

Patients should follow these guidelines.

- quit smoking.

- Cut down caffeine intake.

- Bring down stress

- maintain ideal body weight.

- Avoid wearingwaist fitted clothes

- Do not exercise after a meal.

Patients should try to keep their bodies in straight and comfortable posture. Do not sleep without a pillow. Keep your upper body elevated will not let the liquid come into the esophagus.

Medication

Specific medications are designed to be used in acid reflux treatments. Some drugs lower acid production by turning off the cell surface molecules (proton pump inhibitor) in the gastric mucosa. Proton pump work with the positively charged hydrogen ions and increase acid production.

Proton Mild cases are treated with antacids. Aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide and sodium bicarbonate are common antacids used as acid reflux treatments.

Alginic acid is the active ingredient of the foam barrier tablets. Alginic acid tablets to protect the stomach and lower esophageal mucosal lining. It is recommended to chew properly after 30 to 60 minutes with a meal or before bedtime.

Antihistamines are also used to acid reflux treatments. Antihistamine provides fast relief of primary heartburn and infection of the esophagus.
Surgery or Laparoscopic Surgery

Severe acid reflux treatment can be by surgery. Operations are used to support the lower esophagus. This will stop acidifying food into the esophagus. Surgical procedures are used to accomplish this is called a fundoplication. The surgical of acid reflux treatment is very complicated.

Extensive analysis before is conducted to determine the status of the patient. Surgery is an invasive procedure should be done very carefully. However, laparoscopic surgery is a less invasive method. This method can be small holes above the navel and abdomen. The patients have a speedy recovery. Laparoscopic surgery is performed by qualified and experienced surgeons.

Definitely Get Results With Acid Reflux Cure

Have you been searching for an acid reflux cure that works? Do you get that burning sensation after you eat or that awful taste in your mouth as stomach food comes into your throat?

Do you eat those fatty foods that really taste good?

You know, the ones that your doctor and health enthusiast tell you to stay away from?

Perhaps you’ve decided to change your eating habits. But when you see those dishes with meat, bread and butter, with cream cheese on your potato, you find it hard to resist it.

Or is it the corn dogs, French fries, or greasy fried chicken that you can’t resist?

After your dinner are you always looking for an acid reflux cure using natural remedies?

What happens when you eat a dinner of fatty foods and try to stuff it down with a glass or two of water or drinks? You can expect to get heartburn or reflux.

Luckily you have access a to a few acid reflux cure remedies. Whether you have gas or pain from heartburn, there is a remedy close by and available for everyone. You can get rid of that unwanted chest pain, and do it quickly.

My wife is the only person I have ever known that claims she’s never had heartburn. I told her, “hey you need a heart to have heartburn.” She ignored that statement, since she knows she doesn’t eat like I do.

Well, as you know, you have a powerful acid in your stomach with a pH of 1.0 to 2.5. This acid is necessary to digest meat and to create various nutrients that your body need.

Now it’s time to pinpoint some acid reflux cure for heartburn or reflux. Which one works best for you? I know that you might be tempted to bolt to your medicine cabinet to get some Tums or Rolaids.

But I don’t recommend these treatments, they only mask and suppress your condition. Also, I don’t recommend using milk to eliminate your heartburn, since it may have the opposite effect.

Here is what you can use, Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root known as DGL. It can have a soothing effect. It is able to start the healing process on any tissue damage in your esophagus.

It is best to use 1 or 2 tablets just before meal time or just follow the instruction on the container. You can get DGL in a health food store or you can order it online.

Digestive enzymes also work good as an acid reflux cure. Take a few capsules right before your dinner or meal. Make sure the capsules have a variety of different enzymes. Now if you have an ulcer, then you need to use only DGL.

Using digestive enzymes for acid reflux is quite effective, especially if you are over 50. As you age you produce less digestive enzymes and the amount of HCl your stomach produces is also less.

If you frequently have acid reflux or heartburn, then you need to start changing your eating habits. If you include in your meals more vegetable and have snacks that are fruit or vegetables, your frequency of acid reflux will decrease.

Use the recommended acid reflux cure listed above and you will see less issue with heartburn.

Change your eating habit and eliminate the need for DGL.

Has it been difficult for you to find an effective Cure acid reflux ?

Have you tried natural remedies for your stomach pain?

Acid Reflux – What to Drink for It

Some people think ahead, and plan a drink with meals that will help avoid acid reflux.

Others Wait, and look for a drink that will relieve acid reflux.

Whichever your style, here are a few tips on what to drink for acid reflux.

Acid Reflux – What Not to Drink

There are four beverages you may want to avoid if you have trouble with acid reflux: alcohol, coffee, peppermint tea, and milk.

1. Alcohol: There is some debate about whether or not alcohol causes acid reflux. Some warn against all alcohol, while others caution only against a very dry white wine, which tends to have high acidity.

If you have acid reflux on a frequent basis, you may want to experiment as to whether it is worse or better after drinking alcohol.

2. Coffee: There is an ongoing debate as to whether coffee is to blame for acid reflux. People have thought so for many years. In fact, people believed this so strongly that coffee companies finally decided there was a market for a “smoother” coffee that did not cause acid reflux.

A relatively recent study by Stanford University researchers, however, found no scientific evidence to support the notion that eliminating coffee gives relief from acid reflux. The study, which appeared in the May 2006 issue of “The Archives of Internal Medicine,” evaluated published medical reports from 1975 to 2004 on heartburn.

3. Peppermint: Many people suggest avoiding products containing peppermint. Peppermint tea, which sounds so soothing, can increase acid reflux. Peppermint appears to permit the passage of acid from stomach to esophagus.

4. Milk: Many doctors agree that drinking milk with meals may cause acid reflux in adults. Non-professionals believe milk neutralizes stomach acid, making it difficult to digest food. The result can be acid reflux.

Acid Reflux – What to Drink

There are a number of drinks you may want to try for acid reflux. Most fall under the category of folk remedy, but many people get relief with them. This information is for educational purposes only, of course.

Please seek advice from your physician before drinking any of these.

1. Slippery Elm Bark Tea: Health food stores usually have slippery elm bark tea. Drink the bark tea with your meal to avoid acid reflux. Bark tea coats the esophagus lining, reducing its sensitivity to acid.

If you want to make the tea at home, try to purchase the shredded bark. Use the inner part of the bark, and steep it in hot water for your acid reflux tea. This makes a thick beverage, with a consistency similar to runny gelatin. If it is too thick for you, simply add more hot water.

2. Ginger Tea: Ginger tea also is available in health food stores, and is helpful for acid reflux when used either with the meal or immediately following the meal. It is easily made at home.

Use 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger root, or 1,000 mg of ginger powder. If neither is available, use ground ginger from the spice rack. Steep the ginger in 1 cup boiling water for 5 minutes, and then sip.

Ginger is helpful for indigestion and acid reflux, especially if caused by spicy foods.

3. Licorice Tea: Licorice tea is also effective in the battle against acid reflux. Purchase your tea, or make it by placing 1 teaspoon of licorice root in 1 1/4 cups of boiling water.

Turn the heat low, and simmer the tea for 10 to 15 minutes in a covered pan. Remove from heat, and stir in 2 teaspoons of dried chamomile. Cover and allow your acid reflux tea to steep for 10 minutes. Strain it before drinking.

CAUTION: NEVER use licorice tea for acid reflux if you have high blood pressure (hypertension).

4. Clove-Ade: If you prefer a cold drink rather than tea, you may get relief from acid reflux by drinking a glass of clove-ade. Simply add a few drops of clove oil to a glass of cold water. Stir, and sip the clove-ade slowly to offset acid reflux.

5. Banana Milk-less Smoothies: Bananas seem to be very effective as an acid reflux fighter. Bananas become a natural antacid in the body. Banana milk-less smoothies are a cool way to use the banana’s ability to fight acid reflux.

Start smoothies the night before by placing 1 banana, peeled and cut in pieces, into a freezer container.

The next day, put the frozen banana chunks in a blender with 3 cups of soy milk, 1 cup of frozen strawberries, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Add sugar or other sweetener to taste, and blend until smooth. Sip slowly to relieve acid reflux.

Heartburn, acid reflux, GERD, or indigestion: people have found relief for all of them by abstaining from drinking certain beverages, making a point of drinking other beverages.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition that causes food from the stomach back into the esophagus. This occurs when the muscles do not meet in the stomach and esophagus nearly strong enough. As a result, symptoms such as heartburn and nausea are experienced. Although most people who suffer from GERD find relief when they make changes in lifestyle and take medication, some will not respond to these treatments and may need anti-reflux surgery.

Anti-reflux surgery
GERD treatment with surgery can relieve the symptoms gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Anti-reflux surgery corrects the muscle problem of the stomach, and esophagus are met. The most common form of surgery is done for this condition is fundoplication.
Thoracic surgeon will use sutures to wrap the top of the stomach around the bottom of the esophagus to make up the pressure at the bottom of the esophagus. This prevents food and acid from a backup. Surgery usually takes between 2 to 3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. The surgery can be performed through an incision in the abdomen or may be used with laparoscopic repair. It requires small incisions in the stomach then the small camera can be inserted through the incision. Another surgical procedure for treating GERD is endoluminal fundoplication. This new procedure requires the camera away directly into the esophagus through the mouth small clips on the bottom of the esophagus. This prevents the stomach acid and food from the backup.

When an anti reflux operation is required
In traditional treatments offer no relief of symptoms gastroesophageal reflux disease or if a part of the stomach wall or to keep stabbing in the chest, thoracic surgeons may recommend surgery. It is noted that also occurs in the chest and abdomen by heartburn, or burning in the throat, or if there is the difficulty in swallowing or excessive belching. GERD can also cause bleeding complications, make the transition to food, reducing or ulcers, the need to blame for an operation.

Potential risks
Like all operations, there are potential risks. These include infections, bleeding, anesthesia risks affect the passage of the food, stomach, liver and small intestine, but this is rare.
Some patients may temporarily swallow symptoms of gas bloating. These symptoms usually disappear after three months.

There are several symptoms gastroesophageal reflux disease also known as acid reflux.
These symptoms are serious enough often treated by a professional medical advice from mild to very severe problems.

The following is not consisting of all the differing symptom gastroesophageal reflux disease, but highlight the majority of them.

Coughing and wheezing difficulty swallowing belly gassy stomach heartburn, which consists of a burning sensation in the chest, which can be increased through poor diet or even lying down, bending or stooping. Frequent heartburn can be more stringent than the late night. A scratchy hoarse voice with nausea and vomiting, belching throat A symptom gastroesophageal reflux disease perhaps all or perhaps only a few of them, or even one, you have to understand that it is a very serious disease, and it is not something to play or ignore it.
If this continues to interfere, you should consult your doctor to do something about it.

Difference in the symptom gastroesophageal reflux disease is small, but significant. Heartburn symptoms ranging from burning sensation in the chest behind the breastbone after eating or drinking, the last for minutes or several hours. Many people make the mistake the symptoms of a heart attack. This is especially true if the individual is generally not suffering from symptoms of heartburn. Long with a cough or symptoms are hoarseness. The weather is almost always with food or beverages. Alcohol, citrus fruits, tomatoes, chocolate, a food acid and base on this issue. Tea and coffee can also lead to the formation of heartburn.

A symptom gastroesophageal reflux disease is similar, although there are important differences.

The main difference is that the individual finds difficult to swallow, even swallowing his own. Another symptom is severe choking and / or vomiting as something stuck in his throat. Also, persistent cough not a common symptom gastroesophageal reflux disease. Chest pain is stronger in general, too.

GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease) is the medical term for acid reflux disease. Some people
think it is the same as a persistent heartburn, but it is more than that. GERD is a condition where stomach acid refluxes into the esophagus, although heartburn is the most common symptom of the disease.

The lining of your esophagus can be aggravated by acid reflux or this continuous backwash and get inflamed. This deterioration can lead to other problems, for example, ulcers, esophageal narrowing and slightly increased risk for esophageal cancer.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD can occur when the lower esophageal sphincter does not close the proper way and stomach contents leak back, or reflux, back into the esophagus.

If the food is refluxed back, the stomach acid touches the lining of the esophagus. This is called a burning sensation in the chest or throat called heartburn.

Occasional heartburn is not meaning that you have GERD. Even if heartburn occurs more than twice a week, this might be considered as GERD. GERD can gradually lead to more serious health problems.

Most people can handle being uncomfortable with regular heartburn by using over the counter medicine or change their lifestyle. These cures can only be short term or reduced if you really suffer GERD.

The main symptoms of GERD are persistent heartburn and acid regurgitation or reflux. Some people have GERD without heartburn symptoms. Instead, they feel like they have pain in the chest, hoarseness in the morning, or having a problem swallowing.

Some typical symptoms and signs of GERD are as follows:

• Pain in the chest, especially when lying in the night

• Asthma, cough, sore throat or huskiness in the throat.

• Heartburn which is a burning sensation in the chest, sometimes to the neck, with the addition of a sour taste in the mouth.

• Regurgitation of sour fluid or food

• Swallowing problems which is called dysphagia

If you swallow, that’s what happened. The lower esophageal sphincter, which gives a circular band of muscle around the base of the esophagus, releases liquid food to flow into the stomach. It then closed up.

There following are some things that can make GERD even worse:

• Big meals

• Alcoholic drinks

• Smoking cigarettes

• Some foods, for instance onions, carbonated drinks, fatty foods, tomato sauce, mint, caffeine, chocolate and spicy foods

• Laying down right after eating

• Some medicines such as tranquilizers, hypertension medicines such as calcium channel
blockers and tranquilizers

Most people who have common heartburn have mild symptoms that go after a while. However, if you have symptoms of GERD for a while, and you feel frequent or heavy feeling, it can cause medical problems or a more thorough treatment.

Call your doctor if you:

• Trouble swallowing

• Heartburn that comes back shortly after your antacid wears off

• Heartburn that at night wakes you up

• Heartburn many times a week

If you are having heartburn all the time and acid reflux problems, it could be a good idea

E83NTPSS3G7V – Dyspepsia also known as indigestion or stomach problems, points to poor digestion. It is a disease characterized by chronic pain in the upper abdomen, bloating, feeling full earlier than expected when eating. It may be accompanied by belching, nausea or heartburn.

Dyspepsia is a common problem and is often caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or inflammation of the stomach, but in a small minority could be the first symptom of a peptic ulcer disease and occasionally cancer.

Dyspepsia is one of the most common diseases of the intestine (colon), the estimated 20% of people affected in the United States. Maybe only 10% of affected people actually go for medical treatment for the dyspepsia.

Dyspepsia isn’t a very good term for the disease because it implies that there are “dyspepsia” or improper digestion of food, and this is probably not the case.

In fact, another common name is indigestion, which is no better than the term dyspepsia !

Dyspepsia is best described as a functional disease. Concept of functional disease is particularly useful in the gastrointestinal tract. The term refers to the muscular organs of the gastrointestinal tract, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, gall bladder, large intestine.

We usually think in dyspepsia symptoms as originating in the upper digestive tract, especially the first part of the stomach and small intestine.

These symptoms are:

upper abdominal pain ,

belching,

nausea,

abdominal bloating,

the sensation of fullness after a very small amount of food,

swelling.

The most common symptoms are from the eating. That is a time when many functions need to work together in the digestive tract. This tendency to awaken after the meal is what led to the idea that dyspepsia may be caused by the digestion of food disorders.

Often, dyspepsia is caused by an ulcer or acid reflux disease. If you have acid reflux disease, the stomach acid backs up into the stomach. It makes your chest pain.

The doctor may do some tests to see if you have ulcers or acid reflux disease.

Furthermore, known as gastrointestinal reflux disease or GERD. It is a chronic case of damage to the digestive capacity of the esophagus. This is caused by the changes in the distribution between the stomach and esophagus. This disease is always a period of rest and relaxation of the sphincter of the esophagus ahead. Sometimes the acid reflux is responsible for the respiratory and throat problems. It is known as laryngophageal reflux or the extra esophageal reflux disease.
Therefore, Acid Reflux Syndrome appears that the acid occurs when a food is not from the throat to the stomach is gastric acid control. The stomach digests the food we take. This is done using the current heartburn. Acid Reflux Syndrome is the acid with the help of the abdominal wall so that the acids are safely inside. If this acid flows back into the esophagus so that it causes the acid syndrome.
When you are in an important meeting and are just about to close the biggest deal of your career. You must present somewhere above the clouds, but only succeed in a happy smiling face to your colleagues. It is not that you are not over the moon, and would not like to celebrate with the rest of them, but you have this burning feeling again that tells you that you should not have had that burrito for lunch. You are experience heartburn. Or so you think. In practice, you could suffer from the acid reflux syndrome.

It is not as bad as it sounds, or appears in print, for that matter, but it’s bad enough to prevent you from enjoying your life. So what exactly acid reflux syndrome? It is not indigestion, and it is not heartburn, the two most important things that acid reflux syndrome gets confused with everyday.

Since the simple answer is always the best, most people will say they have digestive problems. Others will stick, it’s just heartburn. Very few people understand that what they do not either of these cases, but something else that closely mirrors them, like acid reflux syndrome.

In general, according to the guidelines to prevent all three diseases, and simple treatment methods. Even the initial symptoms are the same, but with a few minor differences that may reduce the domain of diagnosis.

Some of the most common symptoms of the acid reflux syndrome include, but are not limited to, intensive heartburn, stomach problems, a consistent cough, a roughened voice, a sour or bitter taste in the mouth, also a problem in swallowing.

And only a few of the symptoms that patients experience disease. If you can see it, heartburn is a symptom, not necessarily the cause of this syndrome.

If you think you have the acid reflux syndrome, you should consult your doctor as soon as possible. If left untreated, over time, chances are that you suffer from the acid reflux syndrome for the rest of your life.

To give you an idea on what exactly does the acid reflux syndrome, it occurs when the fluid
in the stomach (acids, foods, etc.) come back into the esophagus tube, in a reflux action. It hurts
the lining of the esophagus, so that a burning sensation that you feel. Because of this acid reflux
syndrome should be treated immediately. Any delay on your part result in the esophagus
being damaged.
